Resolved AXC F 2152 went dark after Type 2 reset

Hey Community

We had a working AXC F 2152 controller that was used for different demos and tests, and decided to give it a Type 2 reset from AXC F 2152 English manual page 33.

After the reset the controller flashed the boot and D lights a couple of times and after that it went completely dark. The controller will not respond even if power is reconnected or reset is pressed again. Has anyone else tried the Type 2 reset and had this problem or was this controller just faulty?

The SD-card that was inside the controller booted and worked fine in other controllers after the reset and other SD-cards did nothing in the faulty controller.

OK, if none of the reset procedures work, then I'm afraid that there's not much choice but to return the PLC to Phoenix Contact through your local subsidiary.

Hello Jarkko,

Can you tell me what version of firmware you have on the controller?

For firmware version 1.2, the complete Type 2 reset procedure is slightly different to the procedure described in the User Manual - the details are in the change notes for firmware version 1.20.

There is no way to check the firmware now. We don't have any access in the controllers online diagnostics, because it won't start.

But I'm pretty sure it was fw 1.1.0.23 like most of our controllers.

Right now I only have one free demo controller and I rather not risk to kill it too. I will return to this matter after I have controllers to spare.

Here is from the data sheet of the adapt module:

NOTE: Device defect due to
impermissible firmware version
The Inline adapter terminal is designed to be
aligned to the right of PLCnext controllers with
specific firmware versions. If you align the
Inline adapter terminal next to a PLCnext
controller with a firmware version that is not
permitted, this can cause a device defect to
the PLCnext controller.
Make sure that the Inline adapter terminal is
only aligned next to a PLCnext controller with
a firmware version that is permitted.
AXC F ... PLCnext controllers with the
following firmware versions are permitted:
– AXC F 2152 with firmware Version  1.2test

The adapt module was in the picture, just to show that the controller had power connected. It was the first module I had in hand to get a picture how controller was completely dark.
